1) One of the main risk factor of diabetes is being overweight. Therefore if you are overweight you got to take some action to shed the extra pounds.

2) Reducing the amount of food on your plate would also help. You gradually eat less and start to lose weight.

3) It has been discovered that the Mediterranean diet is the best diet around. They grill or bake foods instead of frying; this eliminates or reduces the amount of bad fats.

4) Eat low Glycemic Index (GI) foods but keep mind that you need a well balanced meal plus overeating of any kind of food is still bad

5) Drink lots of water. Well it is believed that approximately 8 glasses of water per day is perfect.

6) If you must snack like me then you are much better off eating a healthy snack instead of your favourite chocolate bar or ice cream.

7) Remember to keep fit. Lifting a spoon of ice cream to your mouth or pressing a button on the remote is not considered exercise. Sorry. At least 30 minutes per day of moderate exercise is good. You can start by just walking to the park or walking as a means of relaxation.

If you need help to prevent or reverse the onset of diabetes naturally then you should consider this useful book - The Original Diabetes Reversal Report. It is well recomended. Do let me know of your individual experience with diabetes and the solutions this book offered so other people could benefit.

How to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes is when the pancreas, which creates insulin, stops working or your cells stop utilizing insulin created. Insulin is a hormone which lets sugar from your blood into the parts of your body which require it. When this vital hormone is missing or your cells cannot absorb insulin properly, sugar builds up in your blood, which causes you to get ill.
Some people require an injection of insulin to control the sugar, while others need a tablet or just diet and exercise. Everyone with diabetes needs to have a healthy diet – and this is also what helps goes a long way to help prevent the occurrence of Type 2 diabetes.

There are two types of diabetes, Type 1 which means your body does not produce any insulin and type 2 which means your body does not produce enough insulin or does not use the insulin properly. The most common type is Type 2. This type can be caused by: stress, inadequate exercise and a poor diet. This type is covered in this How To. Unfortunately, Type 1 cannot be prevented. It is impossible to prevent it, as it occurs naturally in some people’s bodies.

Try these steps are a start:

Steps

Get at least 30 minutes of exercise nearly every day. For example walking around your neighborhood each day is a good idea. The key is to use large muscle groups. You could also try going to the gym a couple of times a week.

Eat a balanced diet. Eat a little from each food group, and not too much of the bad stuff – like sugar, salt and fat.

Watch the amount of carbohydrates you eat. Your doctor or dietitian can give you a diet plan with the amount of carbohydrate, protein and fat you need each day. Follow their advice, and avoid fad diets which will only cause more trouble.

Drink more water , because your body needs water. Water is better than any other drink. Water also fills you up so your desire to eat decreases.

Maintain a healthy weight by eating healthful foods and avoiding junk food.

This is a perfect place to start———-

This week, scientists at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) reported the first success in generating new populations of insulin-producing cells using skin cells of Type 1 diabetes patients. The achievement involved the newer embryo-free technique for generating stem cells, and marked the first step toward building a treatment that could one day replace a patient’s faulty insulin-making cells with healthy, functioning ones.

Diabetes researchers believe that the disorder is caused by some type of immune reaction gone awry — immune cells are “trained” in the thymus gland to recognize the body’s own cells and protect them from destruction. For some reason, this education doesn’t occur properly in Type 1 diabetes patients, and the immune system sees the pancreatic beta cells as foreign. Melton’s team is currently working to generate thymus cells from diabetic patients in the same way the team created the beta cells, in order to put all the players together in a lab dish, in a kind of biological diorama of the disease.

Diabetes symptoms are very mild and could be mistaken for other illnesses. Therefore it is important to know all the signs of diabetes. Knowing the symptoms of diabetes may save your health perhaps even your life.

I was told that diabetes is an old person’s disease but that is so far from the truth. If you listen to those myths of diabetes you will only put your health at risk.

All over the world more and more people are suffering from this critical but totally preventable illness.

In the US 10.7 percent of the population in the age group 20 and above suffers from diabetes (National institute of diabetes and digestive and kidney disease NIDDK2007). While in the United Kingdom approximately 3percent of the population suffers from diabetes. Don’t join this statistic! why go through the heart ache, when it is in your power to know the signs of diabetes and act upon the diabetes symptoms.

The most common signs of diabetes are exessive thirst, frequent urination, extreme cravings, tiredness, blurred vision and numbness in the fingers and toes.

Our modern diets and lifestyles are thought to be the main culprit. However genetics may also also play a part.

It does not matter how many people suffers from the symptoms of diabetes. What is important is for you know the signs of diabetes symptoms and ensuring that you are not at risk or learn to minimise the risks.

Diabetes is very serious, untreated; it can result in Heart Disease and Stroke, Blindness, kidney disease, nervous system disease or even amputation. The good news is that with the right information you can protect yourself.

I was told that the best form of defence is offence. Therefore I have researched diabetes symptoms. Hopefully having gone through this site you will be able to recognise all the diabetes symptoms and know how to protect your health. Thank you for visiting my little site.

For more info visit first-signs-of-diabetes-symptoms.com the place to get useful information on diabetes – the chronic disease that is as a result of our “supersized” lifestyle.

See you for the next post – please share you thoughts - spread knowledge

Type 3 diabetes is a new form of diabetes discovered by Dr Suzanne de la Monte and her research team at the US Brown Medical School.

In the research it was found that the brain produces insulin. Yes, the brain really produces insulin. This brain insulin is not affected by the level of glucose in the blood as in type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

However with type3 diabetes the brain produces lower than normal levels of brain insulin. If the brain cells are deprived of insulin they eventually die causing memory loss and other degenerative diseases.

This new type of diabetes also strengthens scientists’ belief that people with diabetes have an increased risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease by up to 65%. Alzheimer is a degenerative brain disorder.

Researchers at the medical school have also discovered that many type 2 diabetics have deposits of a protein in their pancreas which is similar to the protein deposits found in the brain tissue of Alzheimer’s sufferers.

Scientist found also that Alzheimer’s disease patient show a build up of amyloid plague in their brains. In type 2 diabetes, amyloids are found in the pancreas and possible kills insulin-processing cells. The toxins produced by diabetes may negatively affect the brain’s ability to use sugar.

Dr Suzanne de la Monte, who led the research, and her colleagues studied rodents and post-mortem brain tissue from people with Alzheimer’s and proved that insulin and its related proteins are actually produced in the brain, and that reduced levels of both are linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
